For manufacturers, tuning into these trends will be critical to innovation—according to Datassential, at least 70% of consumers in the U.S. indicate that their food preferences are driven primarily by what they encounter on restaurant menus. 2020 and 2021 saw a revival for always-popular comfort foods, as consumers sought out dishes that made them feel nostalgic or calmed their nerves—or foods in which they simply loved to indulge. And while some of those trends are expected to continue into 2022, there are menu trends that food manufacturers should tune into for maximum success.
